About : Centratherum punctatum is a perennial herb to small sub shrub 10 - 50 cm tall. Stem erect and pubescent, single- and multi- stemmed. Leaves are oppositely arranged lanceolate to ovate or obovate, and have serrated margins with winged petioles. Lateral veins ascending, 3-6 pairs, inconspicuous. Inflorescences sessile, solitary, terminating the branches. The showy purple flower clusters of about 3cm wide are most distinctive. Flower heads with light purple disc florets only, glandular, outer ones longer than inner. Pappus row of erect bristles scales 1-2 mm long. Stamens 5, styles 6-7 mm long. Achenes narrowly turbinate, weakly ribbed, 1-2 mm long. Listed in the Global Compendium of Weeds as a weed principally impacting disturbed places and semi-natural ecosystems (Randall, 2012)..Leaf extract have antimicrobial activity .Exotic to India.
