Synonym : Melaleuca viminalis
Vernacular name : Weeping Bottlebrush
Family : Myrtaceae
About the Tree : The weeping bottlebrush is typically a small tree with pendulous foliage. Evergreen with bright red flower spikes, After flowering woody capsules appears, that look like bead bracelets on the bark .It is native to Australia and distributed in North-eastern New South Wales and eastern Queensland. Humming birds love the flowers.
Height : 5-8 m
Bark : The Bark is dark grey in color and furrowed.
Leaf : Leaves linear to narrow-elliptic with one side straighter than the other, 3-7 cm long, 3-7 mm wide, and apex is acute, alternately arranged.
Flower : Weeping bottlebrush's are generally noted for their flowers which are bright red colour spike, up to 5-8 cm long and are usually seen in spring and sometimes in autumn, with prominent multiple ,long bristle Like red stamens 15-25 mm.
Fruits : Each flower produces a small woody fruit containing hundreds of tiny round (cup shaped) capsules, almost inconspicuous with orifice wide. These fruits form in clusters along the stem, and are usually held on the plant for many year
Season : Flowering can be seen in Spring to early summer, also sporadically throughout year. Peak flowering time is late spring.

: Considered Antibacterial, Anthelmintic, Hemostatic, and diuretic.
: Planting of weeping bottle brush along river and creek banks will provide resistance against strong water currents and can mitigate damage caused by extreme weather events such as flooding.
