White Lantana

Lantana montevidensis

Botanical name : Lantana montevidensis.
Common Name : White Lantana
Family : Verbenaceae
About : The clustered blooms of this trailing lantana are pure white, without a contrasting yellow eye. A spreading, evergreen, tender perennial that blooms year round in frost-free climates, trailing lantana is grown as an annual or container plant in temperate zones. It is native to warm regions of South America and naturalized in many other parts of the world. The small, dark green, oval leaves of trailing plant are rough and leathery with toothed edges. Crushed leaves release a strong, rather unpleasant fragrance. Its rounded flower clusters comprise numerous small tubular blooms. Plants that are not deadheaded may produce blue-black, berry-like fruits, with self-sown seedlings often resulting. This sun- and heat-loving perennial requires well-drained, moderately fertile soil. It withstands hard pruning and is quite drought tolerant and trouble free once established. This species is considered invasive in India. Its fruits and other parts may pose health risks
