Stockholm and Rotterdam Conventions And Associated Challenges

The workshop started with registration of the participants. Convener, Dr. Kanchan Kumari initiated the function by welcoming and introducing the speakers and participants. This was followed by welcome address from the mentors, Shri. M. K. Gangeya, Director, MoEF&CC and Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director, CSIR-NEERI where they highlighted the challenges, limitations and progress in environmentally sound management of POPs and how this workshop will serve as a platform in giving directions and recommendations to many sectors in safeguarding the life of the people and of course the planet Earth.

          During the inaugural function, Dr. Rakesh Kumar presented Mementoes and souvenirs as a token of appreciation to all resource persons, Shri. M. K. Gangeya, Mr. S. Ganeshan, Indian Chemical Council; Mr. Satish Sinha, Toxic Link, Delhi, and Dr. Asha A. Juwarkar, Ex-coordinator, SCRC. The inaugural function was followed by informative lectures from the resource persons and participants followed byPanel Discussion, hosted by Dr. A. N. Vaidya, Coordinator, SCRC. The workshop ended with the distribution of participation certificates from the hands of Dr. Rakesh Kumar to all the delegates present there and then the delivery of vote of thanks by Dr. A. N. Vaidya.
